Mark Pelletier is Executive Director of Hi-Venture Ministries and
currently functions as administrator and lead counselor for Family Life
Counseling. He has earned a B. A. in Ministry from Anaheim Christian
College (1978), an M. Ed. in guidance counseling from the University of
Portland (1983) and a Doctor of Ministry that combines the disciplines of

School of Theology in Columbus, GA. Since 2005 Mark also serves Catholic
Community Services' Family Preservation program as the licensor for foster
care facilities to mental health clients in Southwest Washington and the metro
Portland, Oregon region. Pelletier offers counseling services to
humanitarian aid field personnel in numerous foreign countries and travels to

Dr. Pelletier’s counseling practice features a focus on parent/child
issues with special attention to problems related to school performance and
behavior. Services to adults include
help for relationships characterized by conflicts stemming from neglect and
abuse. He treats emotional
instability (depression, anger, fears etc.), assists with life management
(personal and family crises, change and loss, dependency problems and
addictions, conflict resolution, personal and professional planning and goal
setting, etc.) and conducts client evaluations for court purposes. He
has been a college teacher, public speaker and spent nearly 15 years as a
management trainer in the criminal justice community. His recently concluded service for seven
years as a school board
member and 20 years of involvement with student behavior makes him
particularly helpful for families addressing school related problems.
He is registered with the state of Washington (#207-010001792), is a
charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors since
1986, and is a Certified Diplomate in Psychotherapy with the American
Psychotherapy Association. In 2006 Dr. Pelletier was recognized by the
APA as a Certified Relationship Specialist.
Dr. Pelletier was certified in the practice of Reality Therapy in 1986 and
received credentials in 1989 from the Institute for Reality Therapy (now known
as the William Glasser Institute) as a
faculty supervisor of basic practicum for counseling training in Reality
Therapy (now called Choice Theory). The essence of Reality Therapy
is that how we think, feel, and act is our best effort to improve our
situation and enhance our well being. We experience problems when we
aren't able to produce satisfying relationships and a sense of personal
worth. Counselors using Reality Therapy encourage trust in the
counseling relationship, promote the view that we are responsible for our own
actions and help develop practical steps for quick improvement.
