Youth Outreach Team members and reports

The Youth Outreach teams are comprised of local youth evangelists who agree to network for greater impact for the youth of the local community and mutual benefit.  Developed in 2000, select youth workers with a demonstrated passion and effectiveness for reaching troubled teens with the truth of the Gospel and the love and healing touch of Jesus Christ were invited to partner in this vision to go after the many young people who too often fall through the cracks of the youth ministries of neighborhood churches.

Team members are true evangelists.  Some serve their local congregations in various leadership roles but the quality that attracts Youth Outreach to them is their dedication to evangelizing young people wherever they find them.  We seek workers who reach out to teens and young adults outside the walls of the local churches, ie: the streets, the schools, the neighborhoods, detention centers, apartment complexes, public events, etc.

Each Team member is encouraged to pursue reaching and serving any and all local young people in the manner of their own choosing.  It is because they are aggressive in going after kids that they qualify for our team.

Examples of outreach efforts have included weekly youth meetings in a converted barn, visits to school campuses, rafting trips, a short term mission trip to Romania (in collaboration with the Team member's own church), outreach visits to the juvenile detention center, taking street kids to Christian concerts, hosting a conference on evangelism and leading the attendees in teams into the streets, conducting a weekly basketball night at a neighborhood gym, holding a children's outreach in an apartment rec center, distributing free school supplies to low income students, hosting over nighters for teen girls, countless instances of personal evangelism in local coffee shops, convenience stores, bagel shops, bus stops, and anywhere else that young people gather, and many, many more.

Team members are recruited because they already burn to reach kids.  They don't need to be motivated.  They don't need direction.  They just need resources and support.  Youth Outreach provides partial funding to enable their work but they are free to do what they feel God is leading them to do.

The Youth Outreach Team members don't work for Youth Outeach.  They work for God and His Kingdom.  And they work for the eternal interests of each of the young people they talk to.  YO honors what God is doing in each of these amazing evangelists and just wants to facilitate that work by supporting and aiding them.  They are a wonderful blessing and an inspiration to us.

Below on this page we will be posting reports about their recent activities and their future plans.  Check back frequently.

Brandy Idsinga

Brandy (second from left) and a few of her girls at a mid-week youth meeting.

Brandy and her husband, Casey, are at an exciting point in their lives as they are expecting their first child in March.  Until then she continues to meet weekly with teen girls in the Vancouver area.  Most of her girls come from a non church background and a turbulent family life.  They wrestle with relationships, decision making, spiritual truth and personal worth but come out of a modern culture with little or no knowledge of healthy Godly values.  From Brandy they get the loving acceptance and wisdom of an older friend.

Angelo Jeanpierre

Angelo speaking at the Arise and Shine conference on worship and evangelism in September 2007.

Guests included evangelist Chris Overstreet from Bethel Church in Redding, California and worship leader and recording artist Suzy Wills and her husband Kamran Yaraei of Rick Joyner's Morningstar Ministries in South Carolina.  More than 200 enjoyed the teaching and extended worship lead by Suzy and the music ministry of Elisha's Request.

Teams of conference attendees went into the streets of the community to bring the love of God and the healing touch of Christ to their neighbors.  They returned with reports of lives changed and bodies touched.

· One woman prayed with the team and reported being able to walk without pain for the first time that day.

· Another woman with a wrist brace for her carpal tunnel, was healed, removed her brace and could squeeze without pain which, she said, she “couldn’t do earlier.”

· A mother of three little girls received prayer for her youngest who had had three surgeries.  A team member spoke encouragement to her with a prophetic word.  She later showed up at the conference site to hear more about God explaining that “I don’t know how you knew what we needed prayer for.”

· A man who walked with a cane was prayed for and didn’t need his cane any longer.

· Team members prayed at local schools and got insight into campus problems along with a spiritual promise of coming breakthrough.

Angelo and Hannah tell us (January 2008) that they did ministry on New Year's Eve at Revival Town Ministry in Olympia, WA. and that they are "ramping up" for an outreach trip in April to Russia with Suzy Wills Yaraei and her team.  Preparation will include events in February and April.  Details to be announced.

Ryan Townsend

The third of 13 children, Ryan was active as a chapter president with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship in college before becoming a Christian school teacher.  He frequently takes young people to events that establish and stimulate their faith in Christ.  He used concerts, rafting, weekly Bible studies, summer camps, and a deep personal commitment to each young person to build relationships and influence them positively.  He also conducted Sunday night meetings in the Battle Ground area that grew dramatically.  To listen to Ryan is to hear the heart of a discipler with a passion to see every child and youth grow to their fullest in Christ.
